Vision


" To Make Bandar Seri Begawan As a Progressive City Comparable With Other Cities in The Asia Pacific Region By The Year 2010.

 

Mission

The mission of the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department is parallel to the aims and the policies of the  National Development Plans. The broad mission of the department is encompassed in the following mission statement:

 

"To Administer and manage the Development and Progress of        

Bandar Seri Begawan."


Aims and Objectives

The broad mission statement serves as the basic principle for efficient management and administration (good governance) of the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipality. This is further formulated into "directional policies" for adoption and implementation. The so-called "directional policies" will become policy guide towards good governance, as stipulated in the following strategic aims and objectives.

  • Responsible ( instrumental ) for enhancing further the quality and level of living comfort of citizens of this country and visitors from abroad;

  • To serve as a catalyst for the creation of positive environment conducive to the growth of economic sector activities;

  • To maintain the characteristics and functions of Bandar Seri Begawan as the Capital and the Centre for Administration, Education, Tourism, Communications, Commerce and Trade, Industry, Finance, Culture and Centre for Sports and Recreation.

Roles

The achievements of the above-mentioned strategic aims and objectives will be based on the roles played by the agencies and individuals (players) within the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Board and Department. The roles that could be played are as stipulated in the Municipal Boards Act and other rules and regulations pertaining to good governance of the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipality. They are identified as follows:

  • Effort to beautify Bandar Seri Begawan and maintain it cleanliness;

  • Providing facilities and upgrading municipal services;

  • Planning and control of development;

  • Adopting and practising corporatism (partnership) in developing the economic base of Bandar Seri Begawan with main business institutions and figures;

  • Encouraging the redevelopment of private building;

  • Fostering the development of private lands;

  • Simplifying the process of applications of new business licences and the process of renewal of business licences;

  • Encouraging the economic growth in informal sectors with appropriate manner and discipline;

  • Enforcing laws and regulations.
